Mr. Scruffy has been banished to a crate unless I can watch him all the time. I haven't been able to get him completely potty trained and it's driving me and Arleen crazy.
We are both tired of stepping in poop and pee. There doesn't seem to be a set place he goes so it's hard to pin him down. I tried confining him to one are of the house, but he's so small, he can get through almost any gate or other thing I use. I admit, I'm frustrated — a lot!
So from now on when I can't be actively watching Scruffy, he must go in a crate until he learns to potty outside. I'm trying to clean up my house and between Bentley, Dinky, and Scruffy, it's getting hard to keep up.
Bentley has problems going up and down the stairs to the back door and sometimes he can't find the dog door so he potties in the bathroom or utility room. Dink pees wherever. I am going to be putting Dink back in his male wrap at night so he won't be peeing around the house at night and I might even put it on him during the day. I am also considering putting a male wrap on Bentley at night.
Actually, I'm not sure how much longer Bentley can go on. He is having a lot of balance problems as well as the pottying problems. Arleen said he fell over three times yesterday just walking down the hall and the other day he couldn't find the dog door. He was pushing in the wrong place. I am again wondering whether we are keeping him for him or us.
It is such a hard decision but the other day I felt like Bentley was ready to go. He seemed to be asking me to let him go be with Gypsy. Yet, I'm still struggling...
Dinky also seems to be more troubled. I think in part it's because I haven't been taking them to the park or for a walk
as much since I've been sick. I'm hoping to get my strength back soon so we can get back to walking. We are all out of shape!
Muffin is getting heavy since we haven't been walking. She really needs to go to the park and just run. I was taking the dogs at least five days a week to walk and run in the park. And I was also walking them around the neighborhood. But since June when I first went in the hospital, the walks and park visits have pretty much stopped. And that's having a negative effect on all of us.
So my goal for the next week is to start walking again and to get Mr. Scruffy trained. I am also hoping to get back to the park a few times a week to let Toots and Muff run. I need the exercise too!!!
Well, I am going to work on cleaning the house up. It's rainy today so no gardening. I hope everyone has a safe, blessed day.
